Inspiration. November: flowers and memories.

November is a Gothic month, don't you think? October is really colorful and still warm. December brings already the promise of a shiny and cozy Christmas time. But November is there in between. Just Dark. In November the days are short all of a sudden. The fall, the real fall, happens then. In a couple of windy days all the trees that were golden become totally nude.
Surprisingly, this month inspired me a lot aesthetically speaking. My mind is full of images dominated by sharp forms and non saturated colors. It also makes me think in plants: bramble, adormiderathistle, belladonna... It reminds me too my childhood obsession with witchcraft. The books I used to look. The drawings I used to do. All the magnificent female and dark protagonist of my fantasies.

With the grey sky and the rain some forgotten memories came to me really clear. The time when, in primary school, me and a classmate painted a door of the girls toilet with glitter spray as part of a magic ritual. We were putting a spell on the hamster of another classmate. A couple of days later the hamster died... Or that time when me and my friend Maria took all of our sorcery objects and, dressing with a totally unpractical witchy clothes, we went on the fully snowed fields in a search for new and unknown lands. We crossed the second stone fence and found a cow cemetery. Then our feets were freezing and our long skirts wet, so we went back to the warmth of our mother's house to drink milk-cocoa. Or that another time, when were in our late teens. We didn't want to go to school the following day so we went to some high rocks, carrying all kind of witchery utilities to make a ritual to call the snow. The snow didn't came, but some truly shitty weather occupied the skies for one week.

I think that November is a great time to do witchcraft.
Since October I am trying to help a waiter from the Italian restaurant under my home to get a girlfriend, a good one. I tried it because he is a really charming guy and I truly think that this is what he needs. Well, and because he asked for it. I did my thing and then he slowly entered in the flow, meeting different girls. Finally he was into some really romantic long distant story. But....ah... She had a boyfriend. A long term relationship. Of course, she finally chose to continue what she had.
The other day, 14th of November, I came down to make a walk and he told me the sad resolution of his romantic adventure. So I told him I will tried again, immediately (kind of joking). Then I entered the park and suddenly there she was. The Moon. Huge, bright, powerful. It felt like she was there for me to make my thing. I really didn't remember that this was the day of the big full moon. For sure, chances have to be taken. So I stopped in the centre of the circular hollow that the park has and I confronted her. I absorbed all the power that she was offering. I felt so good and strong. It was a very special moment. When I got enough I just continued my walk. Hopefully for the end of the month my friend will get what he asked for.

I made magic a lot of times in my life. I learned it somehow in the way to my womanhood. It is something that cannot be described nor explained with rules. It is abstract and invisible. But notice this: I don't take it seriously. When it works out, I am excited and happy. When it doesn't, I just laugh about myself and continue my ordinary life.

- The pictures that accompany the text of today are some flower arrangement that inhabited our living room the first weeks of the month. As I said before I was inspired by a gothic and magical direction. I liked them so much that even named them. I present you: The Undergrowth Goblin, The Volatile Nymph and The Omnipotent Witch. It's easy to guess which is which, no? -

HALLOWEEN. Backyard fire little party.

I like to celebrate "All Hallows Eve". I always did because in my childhood I was obsessed with being a witch. People often reject this party arguing that is a North American tradition and it doesn't belong to us. But this is totally wrong. The tradition is European indeed. Concretely, Celtic. It's called Samhain. In Spain, especially in the north, there were plenty of traditions that took place on the evening of the 31th of October. Rituals in relation with the winter and the long nights. With witches, spirits and magic. The time and the influence of the USA film industry have blurred our own celebrations. I try my best to recover all this atmosphere wherever I am.
This year I though that it would be too complicated to celebrate Halloween since I have a little baby and I no longer own a garden. I had almost accepted that I wouldn't do anything when my friend Anne burn the fire inside of me. She offered me her backyard to do the party, with a fireplace included. Of course, I used my chance. My dear friend Fabia helped me the whole day with the organization of the event. Thanks to her it was all much easier. Otherwise, I wouldn't manage. The whole thing was a bit crazy, quite a rush. To make it all worse, it was raining. We started at three with the shopping and the decoration, and at eight in the night was all tidied up and we were coming back home.
It was great! We got two birthdays being celebrated (mine and Dimitria's, a lovely future mother). We got warm food and drinks. We got music thanks to my friend Maria. We got a fireplace and a fire juggling show thanks to Dieter. We got little witches and skeletons on a sugar high. We got crying babies and sleeping babies. I even went to the street to get any child into the party and I managed a couple of improvised guests. I guess everybody thought I am crazy and not trustable. Hahaha. I didn't make many pictures, and the few I made aren't good. But... I was just enjoying the moment, too nervous and excited to think with clarity.
To end the evening in the perfect way, Manfred and me watched "The Hunchback of Notre Dame", made in 1939. I know it may not sound like a typical movie for Halloween. But I asure you is a good choice. While watching you don't stop suffering. It is so cruel and intense.

I hope you all celebrated somehow. And had fun. Good night.

.WORN 70. Total Black + Big Belly

My belly gets bigger each day that passes. It's getting harder to feel glamorous or stylish. I think some young hipsters call me cow this morning when I was passing by trough a coffee terrace. I actually don't care about it but I truly feel big. I am full of joy. but also full in general. I don't especially like to wear black but today it helped me to feel a little bit thinner, just a little bit.

.ATMOSPHERE. Halloween

Yesterday was All Hallows Eve - everybody knows that - so I called the coven and we made a witch's Sabbath in the garden. The sunset was amazingly colourful and the evening quite warm. The air smelled great and the ambient was electrified, you could feel it walking on the streets. While we were dancing around the fire and getting crazy by the spirit of the night, little monsters came by and asked for what they ask: candy. We were prepared and had lots of them. But first we roused them to get crazy with us and shout out to the sky - just a little bit-. It was a great evening.

I take Halloween with a lot of passion and a bit of childlike soul. I enjoy every chance to make a day different than the others. I love celebrations. Halloween is special for me because I love to be a witch. I was so enthusiastic that I even prepared the decoration some days ahead: I carved the mandatory creepy pumpkin and I made a couple of light strings that I would use to indicate the way inside my wild garden -the entry is a bit confusing-. I made one light string with physalis alkekengi that I kind of sewed so they wouldn't fall. It is a funny handcraft to do and it makes the autumn much more beautiful. It is not my own idea but perhaps I am the first in "sewing" them. Another light string has a really cold light so I tried to make something like little ghosts with paper... but they look more like frozen flowers. It doesn't matter, they are cute anyhow and I enjoyed making them. You see? I am really passioned hahaha

Fire and candles everywhere. Friends, music and dance. Monster kids and candy. For me this is happiness. I hope you also made something funny and special yesterday!

Beauty is in almost everything around us. This is a blog about beauty from my point of view.
